Visiting Piazzale Michelangelo is in itself an experience to live if you come to Florence

but if you have the opportunity to do it in the late afternoon, around sunset, when the roofs and houses are tinged with red and the sun disappears slowly on the Arno behind Ponte Vecchio you will bring with you a unique and unforgettable memory.

We will start from the Lungarni, crossing Ponte alle Grazie to reach the left bank of the Arno.

Once we arrive at the Torre di San Niccolò, that survived the dismantling of the last city walls, we will climb through the monumental ramps on the hill that houses the famous panoramic terrace. In Piazzale Michelangelo we can admire the city of Florence from a unique perspective that will allow us to discover the scenic beauty of the surrounding hills.

In the middle of the square there is an imposing bronze copy of Michelangelo's David

It is decorated at the base with replicas of the famous statues of Day, Night, Dawn and Dusk sculpted by Michelangelo for the Medici's tombs in the church of San Lorenzo. Piazzale Michelangelo is a lively and charming place where you can also enjoy an ice cream or have a drink. With a short walk we can then reach the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte and admire its polychrome facade.
